Essential Tips to Teach your Kids to Love Mother Nature

Children are like a sponge and they learn the best by example. You can continue to repeat yourself in words and they may not listen. Your actions will always speak louder than your words while teaching your kids simple things and basic manners.

This topic is being discussed in the context of being friendly with Mother Nature. While usage of plastic cannot be denied completely, it can definitely be reduced to a bare minimum and we believe the reduction is a good start!

We want our kids too to understand the concept of using eco-friendly products; products that would not harm the planet and will ensure sustainable living.

However, textbooks and your continuous teaching through words or theory won’t do much. They will learn by watching the choices you are making. Your small efforts at home will encourage them to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle.

Here are some ways in which you can encourage your child and make him/her more aware of being gentle with nature:

1. Recycle and Upcycle: Like we said usage of plastic cannot entirely be ignored but instead of disposing of it in the bin, it can be reused in various ways. For example, you can make planters out of plastic bottles. You can also create a separate bin for plastics and at the end of every week to submit it to a center where it can be reprocessed into making something useful.

2. Eco-friendly food wraps: Most people still use aluminum foils to wrap food. We must try to use another alternative like Muslin cloth or a paper towel to wrap food which is not as hazardous.

3. Bottles and Tiffins: Our kids go to school/college while we go to work. A simple way to teach them to be thoughtful to nature is by using a lunchbox and a bottle made of more sustainable materials. Stainless steel, glass, wheat grass, and bamboo shoot are some great alternatives to plastic.

We hope these suggestions help your child embrace the concept of a greener and a cleaner planet.
